- Over 7,000 people from rural communities will receive free tests and consultations
- Over 250 students will become familiar with nutrition and first aid concepts
- 4 million euro to support the mobile medical caravans in 2026
OMV Petrom, the largest energy producer in South-Eastern Europe, supports for the fifth consecutive year, the “Health in the Neighborhood” program – a Medcorp initiative that provides free access to medical services in localities with limited health infrastructure.
In 2026, 42 medical events will take place, which will consist of complex clinical examinations: blood tests, ECG, specialist consultations for eye and skin health, kidneys, lungs, liver, diabetes, nutrition, metabolic and endocrinological diseases, as well as screening for breast, prostate and stomach cancer. In addition, the program will include a new educational component through the organization of 10 events on nutrition and first aid in rural schools. The funds required for this edition amount to 2.4 million euro and will be provided by OMV Petrom.
“For many people in rural communities, access to medical services is limited. Through the “Health in the Neighborhood” program - the 2026 edition - approximately 7,000 people will benefit from free medical services. It is our way of standing with communities and making a real difference in their lives,” said Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom.
“The ‘Health in the Neighborhood’ program emphasizes equal access to medical services, prevention and care for people. With the support of OMV Petrom, we manage to reach where the need is great, but resources are few,” said Mihai Olaru, President of the Board of Directors of the Medcorp Association.
Following the tests and consultations, the program’s specialist doctors prescribe treatments, recommendations for a healthy lifestyle and monitor patients through the follow-up service. For serious cases, the Medcorp team facilitates access to clinics and hospitals for additional investigations.
Launched in 2022, the program has grown significantly from 1,700 beneficiaries in the first two years of implementation to more than 7,000 people estimated for 2026. With a total investment of over 5 million euros, “Health in the Neighborhood” is becoming one of the largest mobile health programs in Romania.
The program is fully funded by OMV Petrom and implemented in partnership with the Medcorp Association, local authorities and volunteers.
