Accessibility Statement

We are committed to providing an inclusive digital experience for all our website visitors.

OMV Petrom is committed to providing equal access to information and services for all users, regardless of ability, in accordance with the requirements of Law No. 232/2022 on accessibility applicable to products and services, which transposes Directive (EU) 2019/882 (the European Accessibility Act) into national legislation.

We aim to ensure that the website www.omvpetrom.com is easy to use, perceive, understand, and navigate for all individuals, including users with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities.

1. Compliance Status

The OMV Petrom website is developed and updated with the objective to progressively align with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, integrated into the European standard EN 301 549, which defines the technical accessibility criteria for websites and mobile applications.

Accessibility is approached as an ongoing process, done in stages, as the current functionalities are evaluated, improved and adapted to better respond to the needs of different types of users. A major part of the website content and functionalities already conform to these demands, while other improvements are ongoing.

2. Accessibility Measures Implemented

a) Accessible Content and Interfaces

  • Alternative text for non-text elements.
  • Predictable and coherent page structures.
  • Proper contrast between text and background.
  • Correct labelling for forms and keyboard navigation.

b) Compatibility with Assistive Technologies

  • Wide-reaching support for screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver).
  • Keyboard navigation supported.

c) Multimodal Presentation of Content

  • Information is provided through multiple sensory channels, where applicable (visual, text, auditory).

d) Accessible Support Services

  • Contact and support services are designed to be accessible to all users.

3. Ongoing improvements

During the current accessibility evaluations, certain elements that require additional adjustments to provide a clearer experience for all users were identified, respectively:

  • For smaller screen sizes, the burger menu that contains the main navigation is currently unreachable via keyboard.
  • Various accordion buttons are not connected to their respective labels.
  • The buttons in the cookie settings dialogue cannot be activated using the Enter key and are focused in an order that does not correspond to the visual order.
  • Buttons to download PDFs do not sufficiently communicate their functionality to screen readers.
  • Some elements on the website are empty or require additional secondary language alt texts.
  • Certain elements on the site (like the embedded YouTube player and vertical tabs) have minor errors with their use of ARIA.
  • Images leading to the news articles currently lack an alt-attribute.

These issues are being addressed as a priority and will be resolved as quickly as possible.

4. Excluded Content

Pre recorded media content published before June 28, 2025, is exempt from accessibility requirements under Law No. 232/2022.

5. Transparency

The website offers a Text-to-Speech function for textual content. It uses your web browser's native technology (Web Speech API), allowing audio playback of text without requiring the installation of external modules. OMV Petrom does not collect data on installed voices, web browser settings or content transformed into voice.
