Renewable Energy Projects for a more Sustainable Future

We are building the largest solar and wind portfolio in Romania and investing into renewable energy projects for a lower carbon future.
Renewable energy plays a vital role in the transition to a more sustainable energy system, helping meet consumption needs through low-carbon sources. Solar power harnesses sunlight through photovoltaic panels, while wind turbines convert wind into electricity using advanced technologies. These renewable sources not only reduce the carbon footprint but also contribute to diversifying the energy mix essential for modern society.
On our path towards a cleaner energy future
We aim to lead the energy transition in Romania and the region. We have a clear Strategy 2030 with ambitious goals and a strong investment plan of EUR ~11 bn by 2030 to transform for a lower carbon future.
Around 30% of these investments will go towards reaching our renewable energy target: the largest solar and wind power portfolio in Romania, with an installed capacity of ~2.5 GW.
~1.4 GW in Solar Power Projects
We are investing in solar power projects, both independently and through strategic partnerships. Our key projects are: Teleorman (~710 MW solar project, 100% owned by OMV Petrom), Renovatio Partnership (~200 MW in solar projects, 50% OMV Petrom stake), CE Oltenia Partnership (~550 MW, 50% OMV Petrom stake), Doljchim (~89 MW solar project, 100% owned by OMV Petrom, developed on the former Doljchim industrial site). In addition we are developing small scale solar projects in our own locations.
~1 GW in Wind Power Projects
By tapping into Romania's wind potential, we aim to enhance energy security and significantly reduce carbon emissions.
Through our partnership with Electrocentrale Borzești, we have secured a 50% stake in 4 wind power projects currently under development in Northeastern Romania. These projects will contribute to diversifying the national energy mix and will deliver renewable electricity at scale.
