Petrom donates EUR 1 million to help the victims of the floods

• Petrom donates EUR 750,000 through the Romanian Red Cross and EUR 250.000 directly to the victims of the floods
• In May, Petrom and Red Cross started a National Disaster Preparedness Campaign

Petrom the largest oil and gas producer in South – Eastern Europe is, once again at the side of the victims of the extremely serious floods that ocurred recently. As a consequence, Petrom allocates EUR 1,000,000 to help the victims. „It is now, more than ever, that we must show solidarity towards the people who for the past weeks have known only disasters, sufferings and loss of hope. Petrom, as the largest company in this country, is aware of its responsibility towards the community and thus contributes to the efforts to rebuild and help the affected areas”, said Mr. Gheorghe Constantinescu, Chief Executive Officer of Petrom

Petrom donates the amount of EUR 750,000, through the Romanian Red Cross, in order to support the people in the affected counties, for the acquisition and distribution of tents, emergency hygienic packages, and pumps for cleaning and disinfecting the wells. These actions will be followed by short and medium term projects for rebuilding and reconstruction of the affected areas.

As we announced, in May this year Petrom started, also through the Romanian Red Cross, a project of extreme importance, involving a great social responsibility with the purpose to develop a national disaster preparedness campaign. Also, Petrom donated EUR 35,000 for helping the victims of the floods in Timis county.

Taking into account the critical situation of the people in Teleorman and Vrancea, Petrom provided the necessary fuel to start evacuate the water from the damaged locations, with the motor pumps. The fuel offered by Petrom contributed to the reduction of the floods effects in about 14 locations. Also, the victims of the floods received more than 80 tons of Carpatina water. The total amount of the aids raised to more than RON 75,000.

Besides the Euro 250,000, in the next period, Petrom will continue to directly support the victims of the flood, by providing the strictly necessary products, fuels, mineral water, the total amount of these aids raising to Euro 1 billion.
