Partnership between OMV Petrom and Auchan Retail for opening convenience stores in PETROM filling stations in Romania

OMV Petrom and Auchan Retail Romania announce signing of partnership to open convenience stores in Petrom filling stations, under MyAuchan brand
Opening of 15 stores by end of 2017 is targeted in a pilot phase

OMV Petrom, the largest oil and gas producer in Southeastern Europe, and Auchan Retail Romania, subsidiary of Auchan Retail, 11th food retailer in the world, signed a partnership contract for opening convenience stores in Petrom filling stations. The stores will operate under the MyAuchan brand. Well known in Romania for the Auchan hypermarkets, this is the first time when Auchan opens stores in Romania in this format.

"This initiative is a step forward in implementing the OMV Petrom Strategy update 2021+, which focuses on enhancing offer and customer experience. The modern customer is always in a rush and we want to adapt to this trend. So, we will offer Petrom customers the opportunity to do their day-to-day shopping in Petrom filling stations when they fuel up, thus saving time. The association of the two brands is not coincidental, as both Petrom and Auchan offer customers the same promise of affordable prices", said Mariana Gheorghe, OMV Petrom CEO.

"This large-scale cooperation, which will start with a calibration pilot, is part of the Auchan ambition to become a multiformat retail company in Romania. Through this project, we will bring Auchan closer to all Romanians, thanks to the tailored ranges of products and services, fresh and quality food, good prices and a unique shopping experience.

Last, but not least, through this ambitious project, both Auchan and Petrom target a common goal: 100% happy customers", said Ionuț Ardeleanu, General Manager Auchan Retail Romania.

MyAuchan stores in Petrom stations will offer a wide range of products, including Auchan own labels. Depending on the size of the filling station, the shelves will display up to 4,500 products. The wide range will not only include food, including fresh meat, fruit and vegetables, but also cosmetics, baby products and car accessories.

The existing shopping area in the stations will be refurbished in line with MyAuchan standards and the cash register area will be used for both fuels and the MyAuchan store.

It is estimated that 15 MyAuchan stores will be opened in Petrom filling stations in Bucharest and across the country by year-end, with the first one inaugurated in May. This pilot phase will help the two partners adapt services and offer for a potential further development.
