In August 2024, OMV Petrom S.A. applied for funding from the Modernization Fund managed by the Ministry of Energy, under the Project Call: Supporting investments in new electricity generation capacities from renewable sources for self-consumption – Key Program 1: RES and energy storage – Support for the development of new power plants and heating-cooling systems based on renewable energy sources and for the development of electricity storage capacities, for the project “Photovoltaic Park at Petrobrazi Refinery for self-consumption”

The general objective of the project is to increase the use of renewable energy sources by installing a new solar power generation capacity of 5.75 MW a.c. for self-consumption.

The investment that OMV Petrom S.A. intends to make, by accessing non-reimbursable funds from the Modernization Fund, contributes to the modernization of the national energy system and to achieving Romania’s commitments in the field of greenhouse gas emission reduction. The total estimated value of the investment is 38,183,772 lei excluding VAT, of which:

  • the total eligible value is 26,968,081 lei excluding VAT, of which the maximum eligible non-reimbursable value (requested state aid) is 8,427,479 lei excluding VAT.
  • the beneficiary’s own contribution is 29,756,293 lei excluding VAT.
