- The project is part of the ~1,000 MW portfolio of Electrocentrale Borzesti, owned by OMV Petrom (50%) and Renovatio (50%)
OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy producer in Southeast Europe, and the Renovatio group are continuing the development of the projects included in the Electrocentrale Borzești portfolio. For the implementation of the wind project in Gura Văii (CEE Onești), in Bacău county, the project company obtained an investment loan of 47 million euros from Banca Comercială Română, covering at least 60% of the project total value. This is included in the 300 MW wind projects for which OMV Petrom recently announced the final investment decision.
“Our objective is to have over 2.5 GW of installed capacity in renewable energy projects by 2030, together with our partners. We have developed a diversified portfolio of solar, wind, and hydro projects. We are now entering a new phase, transforming these projects into production capacities: we already have 70 MW in operation and 1,500 MW under development. The Gura Văii - Onești project is an important step in strengthening our presence in renewable energy production in Romania”, said Franck Neel, Member of the OMV Petrom Executive Board responsible for Gas & Power.
With an installed capacity of around 50 MW, the project has all the necessary permits.
The annual net power output is estimated at around 110 GWh.
In 2024, OMV Petrom acquired a 50% stake in Electrocentrale Borzești, a company that is developing renewable projects with a capacity of approximately 1,000 MW.
