We are one of the largest private investors and taxpayers in Romania and a major private employer in the country. Between 2005-2023, the Company paid around 42 billion euro to the state budget in taxes and dividends and invested approximately 18 billion euro. Since 2007, OMV Petrom has included corporate responsibility principles into its business strategy. Between 2007-2023, the Company has allocated 160 million euro to develop communities in Romania, focusing on environmental protection, education, health and local development.

History

Romania has over 160 years of history in crude oil production & refining. It was among the first producing countries and one of the largest oil producers in the world at the beginning of the 20th century. Currently, after more than a century of production, most of the fields have matured and the country’s oil production is 15-20 times lower compared to Europe’s largest producers (Norway, UK). However, recent gas discoveries in the deep waters of the Black Sea indicate great potential. Find out more.
