The Group is the largest private investor in Romania, the biggest taxpayers and a major employer in the country. Between 2005-2022, the Company paid around 39 billion euro to the state budget in taxes and dividends and invested approximately 17 billion euro. Since 2007 until 2022, OMV Petrom has included corporate responsibility principles into its business strategy. During this period, the Company has allocated 120 million euro to develop communities in Romania, focusing on environmental protection, education, health and local development.

History

Romania has over 160 years of history in crude oil production & refining. It was among the first producing countries and one of the largest oil producers in the world at the beginning of the 20th century. Currently, after more than a century of production, most of the fields have matured and the country’s oil production is 15-20 times lower compared to Europe’s largest producers (Norway, UK).
