The sixth edition of Petrom Running Competition gathered more than 1,500 participants

Petrom held today, in Constitution Square the sixth edition of Petrom Running Competition at which attended about 1,500 sports fans.
The registrations for the cross began at 8:30 a.m., and the start was at 11:00 o’clock. The participants ran about 4 kilometers length on the following route: Piata Constitutiei, Calea 13 Septembrie, Strada Izvor, Bld. Natiunilor Unite and Piata Constitutiei.
"This year, Petrom has focused on the main reason behind this competition: promoting sport and a healthy lifestyle. In addition to the positive results achieved in the previous years with the participants support - the construction of a bicycle track of 6.400 m, this year, Petrom Running Competition aims to increase the public’s attention on the importance of sports for improving the quality of life and appeals to the personal motivation for doing it" - Dan Pazara, Corporate Communications Director.
The participants at Petrom Running Competition subscribed to one of the following categories: Juniors (14-18 years), Seniors (subcategories: 19-34 de years, 35-44 years and 45-59 years) and Veterans (over 60 years). The awards were: 4,800 liters of fuel for seniors and veterans categories (First place: 300 liters of fuel, second place: 200 liters of fuel, third place: 100 liters of fuel) and shopping vouchers at Hervis Sports stores for juniors category (first place: 800 RON, second place: 600 RON, third place: 400 RON). In addition, both participants and winners of the cross had other 100 surprise prizes offered by the lottery draw held in Constitution Square.
The novelty of this year’s edition consisted in the ranking system of the runners developed with the help of an electronic tracking system. Each participant at the Petrom Running Competition received a T-shirt and a unique registration number in the contest, mandatory for the measurement of the runners’ performance in
the final ranking. Thus, each runner had to step through the special carpet from the „start”/”finish” line in order to activate the sensor and to monitor the performance in the final ranking.
All participants at Petrom Running Competition had lots of surprises and a full artistic program. Thus, Carmen Bruma and Adrian Nartea animated the atmosphere all day long, the specialists of World Class have prepared zumba sessions, kickbox and cycling and Hervis Sports representatives have decided to
challenge all the participants to a basketball, ping pong, volleyball and football game. Also, the doctor Serban Damian hosted a 30 minutes seminar about healthy nutrition. The specialists from Fundaţia Română a Inimii helped the participants to measure their blood pressure. Petrom Running Competition
ended with a concert held by Elena Gheorghe.
This year’s Petrom Running Competition partners were: World Class, Hervis, Fundaţia Română a Inimii and Carpatina.
