  • The product is sold through OMV Petrom Marketing SRL
  • OMV Petrom Marketing SRL targets annual sales of modified bitumen of approximately 25,000 tons in 2010

Petrom, the largest oil and gas producer in Southeastern Europe, started the production of polymer modified bitumen in Romania – under the brand name OMV Starfalt® PmB.

Rainer Schlang, member of Petrom Executive Board, responsible for Marketing and General Manager of OMV Petrom Marketing SRL: "The fact that we are now producing this modified bitumen, OMV Starfalt PmB, also in Romania brings a series of benefits to our clients: we continue to supply the same top quality product while the delivery time is reduced by approximately  50%. Also, transportation costs will significantly diminish."

OMV Starfalt® PmB has been sold on the Romanian market since 2008 through OMV Petrom Marketing.

OMV Starfalt® PmB is a bitumen binder modified with elastomer, obtained based on a technology developed in OMV laboratories. The production process is patented by OMV and is undertaken in accordance with EN ISO 9001.

OMV Starfalt® PmB’s main features are its special elasticity, wide plasticity range and has an excellent adhesion under all climatic conditions. Therefore, the product represents the best solution for roadworks under difficult weather conditions and heavy traffic.

The production of asphalt with OMV Starfalt® PmB is easily performed on conventional equipment thus no additional modifications are necessary.

The asphalt mixes that contain OMV Starfalt® PmB are characterized by increased longevity, high stability, very good deformation stability and high resistance to cracking caused by low temperature and fatigue.

OMV produces polymer modified bitumen in Germany, Austria and in Hungary.

For the current year, OMV Petrom Marketing SRL estimates a sales volume of approximately 25,000 tons of polymer modified bitumen, on the Romanian and Bulgarian market.
