Petrom continues partnership with Casa Campionilor Foundation

  • Petrom gives financial support in total amount of 75,000 RON to rowing and kayak junior teams
  • Two legends of the Romanian sport, Elisabeta Lipa and Ivan Patzaichin, to join this initiative

Today, May 3rd, at the headquarters of the National Sports Agency, Petrom and Casa Campionilor Foundation launched an initiative aiming at supporting and encouraging the rowing and kayak junior teams. During one year, 25 young athletes will benefit from financial support from Petrom, in total amount of 75,000 RON.
Through this financial support, Petrom secures the conditions necessary for two junior teams during training camps, for one year.

“We will continue to be involved in supporting the Romanian sports together with Casa Campionilor. This time we focused on sports that brought Romania on the highest position many times during international competitions – rowing and kayak. We are hoping that the support we are offering now will contribute to the future performance of young athletes” said the Chief Executive Officer of Petrom, Mariana Gheorghe.

„It is a great joy for us to continue developing this project together with Petrom and to support the junior athletes of the Romanian sport. Certainly, it is a significant contribution to the growth of the next generation of Romania’s champions”, said Mariana Bitang, President of Casa Campionilor Foundation.

This project will be coordinated by the several times Olympics champion, Elisabeta Lipa, who will supervise the rowing team and Ivan Patzaichin, who will supervise the kayak team.

Supporting young Romanian athletes means for Petrom an important and permanent activity, as such actions took place in the past years as well. Supporting the sports in Romania is part of the corporate social responsibility program developed by Petrom.

The partnership between Petrom and Casa Campionilor started in September 2006, by activities that aimed at promoting sports in schools, as grounds for selecting great athletes, but also as means for the next generation to grow up healthy and harmoniously.
Also as part of this partnership, Petrom and Casa Campionilor Foundation held a series of events that brought together great Romanian athletes and underprivileged children and high-school students. In addition, Petrom, together with Casa Campionilor, awarded 5 remarkable figures of the Romanian sports: Nadia Comaneci, Iolanda Balas, Ilie Nastase Marta and Bella Karoly , by granting them the trophy: “Legendary Champions”.
