OMV Petrom and Auchan Retail Romania sign Memorandum of Understanding to extend partnership
OMV Petrom and Auchan Retail Romania are looking to extend their partnership for MyAuchan convenience stores in the Petrom filling stations. The two parties agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding that sets forth the intentions of both parties to discuss further expansion of their partnership, pending final approval from the Competition Council.
The partnership between Petrom and Auchan Retail Romania was initiated in 2017, with a pilot phase which included opening MyAuchan convenience stores in 15 Petrom filling stations, both in urban and rural areas of Romania. This pilot phase aimed to test the business model and to allow partners to evaluate the potential of the partnership.
“Results so far are encouraging and we look forward to discussing further extension of the partnership with Auchan and to having more MyAuchan convenience stores in our Petrom filling stations. The partnership could substantiate even more Petrom’s brand propositions as MyAuchan convenience shops perfectly complement Petrom’s core benefits of quality fuels, affordable prices and filling stations conveniently placed for clients. Through this partnership, clients would shop from the supermarket without worrying about prices and Petrom filling stations network would be able to enhance customer experience”, said Radu Căprău, member of OMV Petrom Executive Board, responsible for Downstream Oil.
“This large-scale cooperation is part of the Auchan Retail Romania’s ambition to bring our stores closer to all Romanians. Our partnership with OMV Petrom, initiated in 2017 with a pilot phase, was very useful for both companies and was a real help for us to improve our proximity offer by finding the best tailored ranges of products and services and, of course good prices. Through this project we are following one of our main strategic goals: to give our customers an unique and extraordinary shopping experience”, said Ionut Ardeleanu, General Manager Auchan Retail Romania.
Existing MyAuchan stores in Petrom stations feature a wide range of up to 3000 products from high-quality food, including ready meals, fresh coffee, fresh products (fruit and vegetables, bakery, diary) and groceries, to non-food products, including cosmetics, baby products and car accessories. The offering varies depending on the size of the Petrom filling stations.
Further details on the extension of the partnership will be available at a later date, after finalization of discussions.
